(Ep. 12) MARRY THE LIBRARY

I've always been a lover of the library. I remember as a secondary school student, shuttling to the Oyingbo Library from my small ghetto in Ilaje, Ebute Meta, . I owe my successes in WAEC and JAMB partly to that library.

Then, while at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, I was so proud that we had the 2nd biggest library in Africa and trust me I made it my other abode. In our Indian University, the librarians of our college library would report me on different occasions to the Dean as, 'The only student who uses the library'. That was an exaggeration, actually.

"The Library is boring"

The truth is that many students do not like the library. If they even visit, they end up either using social media, seeing some movie or even sleeping.

I can bet you that many students in your university will visit everywhere in campus except the library. This is because the library is seen by many as boring. It's about the most quiet building in the campus - no chattering , chatting or nattering; just dead quiet. And to think of the labour of reading? That's another problem on it's own.

Excellent Students love the library.

I want you to know that marrying the library is very important for academic excellence. Excellent Students love the library because they are leaders. They say leaders are readers.

As someone who has smashed outstanding academic records both locally and internationally, I can tell you that the library contributed immensely to my success. If I have I have not tried it and enjoyed it's benefits, I wouldn't have dated recommending it to you.

Many Benefits

There are many benefits of using the library. You get to have access to a treasure bank of books. These include books that can help you better understand your coursework, as well has help you gain other vital knowledge.

There is the advantage of being away from distractions due to the quiet in the library. You get to focus better on studying. As a result, there is better assimilation and you cover more content within a shorter period.

The library will help you in your research as a student. Some libraries also have access to online and offline materials that can help you in further knowledge and research.

Visit today

Visit the library today. Do it almost everyday. If today is your first time in the library, don't just jump into reading. Pick up some good books and scan through them. Do that until you are satisfied, then start reading in details or you can leave the detailed reading to the following day.

Some institutions teach their freshmen how to use the library. Learn this and apply them to use.

Do well to fall in love with the library. Then, let's meet at the top.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed..."; 2 Timothy 2:15

_Now that you are a student_, please marry the library
